Find The Ideal Swim Level (1)

Parent & Me

Ages 6 months to approximately 3 years

This introductory course is designed to build water confidence in toddlers and infants. Parents will participate in the pool, learning specific techniques to help their children get used to the water. The curriculum focuses on basic water readiness and essential safety tips for families to practice together.

Pre-School

Ages 3–4 (Must be comfortable without a parent)

Created for young children ready to transition into independent learning, this level focuses on basic comfort and elementary skills. Students will practice safely entering and exiting the pool, blowing bubbles, and getting their faces wet. The class also introduces floating and fundamental water safety habits.

Exit Requirements:

  • Enter and exit water safely using the wall and stairs
  • Blowing bubbles
  • Submerging face in water
  • Front and back float with support
  • Front and back flutter kicking with support
  • Basic arm actions

Level 1

Ages 4+ Beginning swimmers

This foundational level helps older children become fully acclimated to being in and under the water. Students will work on submerging their heads, exhaling underwater, and retrieving items from the pool floor. The class also covers the basics of gliding, floating on both front and back, and introductory kicking.

Exit Requirements:

  • Enter the water unassisted and travel 5 yards
  • Glide on front 2 body lengths, roll to back and float for 3 seconds
  • Safely exit the water independently

Level 2

Ages 4+ Developing swimmers

In this level, the focus shifts toward movement and stroke development. Swimmers will refine their underwater breathing and work on gliding further. The core of the class involves teaching coordinated strokes—integrating arm and leg movements to swim on both their front and back—alongside continued safety education.

Exit Requirements:

  • Enter water, move into front float for 5 seconds, roll to back, float for 5 seconds, then
  • Return to vertical position
  • Move into back float for 5 seconds, roll to front, then recover to a vertical position
  • Push off and swim, using combined arm and leg actions on front for 5 body lengths, roll to back, float for 15 seconds, roll to front, then continue for 5 body length

Level 3

Ages 4+ Intermediate swimmers

Designed for children who can already swim on their front and back, this level introduces more complex techniques. Students will learn the front crawl (freestyle), elementary backstroke, and various kicks including the flutter, dolphin, and scissor kicks. Other skills include side breathing and learning how to dive from a sitting or kneeling position.

Exit Requirements:

  • Jump into deep water from the side, swim front crawl for 15 yards, maintain position bytreading or floating for 30 seconds and swim elementary backstroke or backcrawl for 15 yard
